Acupuncture for pain relief at Coats Physiotherapy Clinic
Acupuncture is an holistic approach to musculoskeletal pain based on over 2000 years of development and refinement in the Far East.
Recent research has shown that a large number of the acupuncture points outlined in traditional Chinese Philosophy correspond to physiological features known as 'trigger points', an area of increased sensitivity within a muscle.
Most people find acupuncture a pleasant and relaxing experience. The insertion of acupuncture needles should not cause pain and they can be left in place for anything from a few seconds to 20 minutes, depending on the effect required.
When used in conjunction with other Physiotherapy treament techniques, acupuncture can be an extremely effective method of pain control.
